A pair of Authentic Don Albinson 1601 Stacking Side Chairs by Knoll vintage Mid century R2500 per chair
Don Charles Albinson, an American industrial designer born on November 22, 1921, made significant contributions to the furniture industry. He studied in Sweden, the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Yale University. Albinson’s knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering led to many technological and design advances in furniture, including those made by the Eameses. In 1964, he was hired as Knoll International’s director of design production and debuted his first project, the hugely popular Albinson chair, in die-cast aluminum and polypropylene, also known as the 1601 Stacking chair, in 1965.
Albinson emphasized the importance of designing chairs that could accommodate people of different dimensions, making it an essential consideration in his chair’s design.
