Description
A 1960’s Rosewood Stereophonic Ecko radiogram wall unit by JaMC Belmont Bulawayo Mid Century retro vintage R9800
It’s been a while since we’ve had something this unique and exciting. A really beautiful wall unit with two carved shelves and a large radiogram cabinet with display space and a double sided cabinet with a glass shelf and a turntable cabinet that slides open from the top with a storage cabinet underneath. The speakers are on either side. The handle carvings are beautiful and the black sides are quaint shaped. The unit is very solid, the shelves get slotted onto the frames and the cabinets get screwed on. The Rosewood veneer wooden shelves and cabinets were refreshed leaving the original piano wax finish. The sides were resprayed and the radiogram was fixed. The sound is so awesome.
The unit has handles and openings on either side and is meant to be used as a room divider unit which adds to its charm. Radiograms reached their peak of popularity in the post-war era, supported by a rapidly growing interest in records. An expensive instrument of entertainment for the house, fitted with a larger loudspeaker than the domestic radio, In the 1940s and 1950s, many manufacturers considered the radiogram to be more important than television. Later models took on the modern lines, piano gloss finish and plastic and gilt trim of the 1960s. Going back in time where the love of music and dancing was shared. The perfect 1960’s radiogram wall unit that’ll be admired by all.
